Lady Tremaine/Evil Queen/Maleficent: female, mid-20s to 40s, 5'7"+, strong actors to play the most powerful female villains of all, mezzo with a high belt. Ursula: female, 30s, at total ease working the crowd, fearless yet flirty and loads of fun, Bette Midler-type, character actress with strong belt to D. Yzma: female, mid-20s to 30s, comedienne/principal vocalist with great physical life, originally voiced by Eartha Kitt in "The Emperor's New Groove," pop mix to E. Fairy Godmother: female, 30s+, 5'6" and below, experienced comedic character actress who sings well, can play bubbly and absent-minded with ease, musical theater soprano. Female Lion King Vocalist: female, 20s-30s, 5'4"-5'7", principal vocalist of African-heritage with a rich, soulful, gospel sound, able to bring down the house, also sings "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Male Lion King Vocalist: male, 20s-30s, 5'8"–6', vocalist of African-heritage, extremely strong singer, physically in good shape, sings "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," soaring tenor. Jafar/Scar: male, 30s, comedic actor of African-heritage, tall, lean, sexy, and a bit of a bad boy, can play sinister, as well as reveal his softer side, sings "Wind Beneath My Wings" with Iago, also sings "Be Prepared," very strong vocalist with wide range, bass/baritone. Hades: male, 30s+, 5'11"+, excellent comic actor with improvisational skills, smart, funny, and quick, rock tenor to an A. Franco: male, 30s-40s, "song and dance" man with a magical flair, charismatic baritone with pizzazz. Woody: male, 20s-30s, 6'+, character actor, the very likable Sheriff in the small town, everybody's best friend, a natural leader, tenor to A flat with a country twang. Buzz: male, 30s-early 40s, 5'10" and below, a space ranger who believes in his mission to save the universe, lacks any self-irony, charismatic actor, powerful baritone to G. Auditions will be held Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. (Peter Pan, Duke, Charming, Buzz, Woody) & 2 p.m. (Ann Marie, Blue Fairy, Princesses); Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. (Lady Tremaine, Evil Queen, Maleficent, Ursula, Yzma, Fairy Godmother) & 2 p.m. (Lion King Vocalists, Jafar/Scar); and Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. (Hades, Franco, Buzz, King, Pain/Panic, Scar/Jafar) at Pearl Studios, 500 Eighth Ave., 12th fl., NYC. Sign-in begins 30 min. prior to each call. Vocalists should attend only one audition call.
Prepare 16 bars of music and provide sheet music in the correct key. Some performers may be asked to learn a small movement combination. Bring pix & résumés, stapled together. Callbacks will be held Dec. 13 & 14 in NYC.
