Beacon Theatre Productions-holding auditions for Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure 1/8,1/ 9 7PM


Beacon Theatre Productions is holding auditions for their production of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, adapted by Steven Dietz from the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Arthur Conan Doyle, and directed by Stephen Underwood.

Audition Dates: Sunday January 8, starting at 7:00 PM, and Monday January 9, 2017, starting at 7:00 PM. Callbacks will be held Thursday January 12, 2015, starting at 7:00 PM.

Both auditions and callbacks will take place at Olivet Covenant Presbyterian Church, 608 North 22nd St., Philadelphia, PA 19130.

Roles Available (6m, 2f):

Sherlock Holmes: RP British, 30s; Brilliant detective so intellectually driven that all other areas of his life suffer, especially relationships. Holmes craves the thrill of the hunt but has no idea how to look at life on a human level.

Dr. John Watson: RP British, 30s; Former soldier, now a doctor and Holmes’ only friend. Frustrated by Holmes’ eccentricities but a loyal man of action, Watson bravely stands by him.

Professor James Moriarty: RP British, 40s-50s; Mastermind whose criminal empire extends across Europe. Satanic and vicious in executing his plans, Moriarty seeks to prevent Holmes from exposing him.

Wilhelm Von Ormstein: German, 30-40s; Forceful King of Bohemia who had a scandalous affair with Irene Adler. He wants to destroy the evidence of his infidelity, but still nurses feelings for her.

Irene Adler: American, 20s-30s; Ex-opera singer forced into hiding because of her affair with Wilhelm. Now guarded and mercenary, she seeks revenge and finds herself a target of Moriarty and his agents.

Godfrey Norton/James Larrabee: RP British, 20s-30s; Wealthy young man who courts Irene Adler, only to reveal his secret identity as James Larrabee, the right hand man of Moriarty.

Marie/Madge Larrabee: French/Cockney, 20s; Young housemaid who spies on Irene Adler. Her true identity is Madge, James Larrabee’s sister and an agent of Moriarty. (This role requires a French accent first, then a Cockney accent.)

Sid Prince: Cockney, 30s-40s; Moriarty’s demolitions expert and hitman. He mistrusts the Larrabees and thinks they're incapable of stopping Holmes. (Actor will double in multiple minor roles)

Rehearsals begin mid January 2017 and run typically three days a week.

Performances will be held every weekend from April 21 to May 7, 2017.

Please prepare a dramatic monologue, not to exceed two minutes, for auditions. Sides will be given to read at callbacks only. Make sure to bring hardcopies of your resume and headshot.

Audition appointments will be held in 10-minute slots. Walk-ins welcome.

A paid stipend will be provided for cast members.
