Teatro Lirico of DC - Singers for 2016 Season


Teatro Lirico of DC invites singers and actors for auditions for its 2016 season. Auditions will take place on May 18th, 2016 (by appointment). To schedule an audition, please send us an e-mail , indicating which category you would like to be considered: teatroliricodc@aol.com

We are taking applications for the following categories:

CHORUS MEMBER

Chorus members are volunteer singers with previous choral and, preferably, stage experience. They are required to be able to sing in Spanish with an intelligible pronunciation.

Audition Process:

Sight-reading: Performing a short passage of music presented to candidate at the audition.
Tonal memory: Singing back a melody played on the piano
Spanish diction: Reading a passage in Spanish

PRINCIPAL SOLOIST

Principal soloists are paid roles that are limited to experienced professional singers. Principal singers need to be able to sing and deliver spoken texts in Spanish with a fluency level equivalent to a native Spanish speaker. Auditions for principal roles are normally by invitation, and based on our production needs. However, if you would like to be considered, please send us your CV, with links to your performances.

Audition Process:​

Acting out a passage in Spanish, and
Singing a zarzuela aria accompanied by piano.​

SECONDARY ROLES

Secondary roles are acting and singing artists. Depending on the demands of the role or artist experience, these may be paid or vounteer jobs.

Audition Process:

Sight-reading: Performing a short passage of music presented to candidate at the audition.
Performance quality: (a) acting out a passage in Spanish, and (b) singing a passage of a zarzuela number accompanied by piano.

YOUNG ARTISTS

Young artists are encouraged to apply for secondary roles or to cover some of the principal roles. They need to be able to sing and deliver spoken texts in Spanish with a fluency level equivalent to native Spanish speaker.

Audition Process: Same as in secondary roles

SUPERNUMERARIES

Supernumeraries/actors with experience in well-established opera houses are encouraged to send their CVs. Spanish speaking ability is only required for those who want to play spoken parts.
