Seminar & Choir for Future Chorus Teachers

Seeking candidates for participation in Seminar & Choir for Future Chorus Teachers.

The seminar is for high school juniors and seniors who are considering becoming choir teachers or conductors. Starting October 1st, we will hold weekly seminars, where students will get to discuss topics pertinent to choral conducting and music education, gain instruction in conducting technique, and experience leading choral rehearsals and conducting a choir in concert. Seminars will be Thursdays from 7-9 pm in the chorus room of Edison High School in Alexandria. More details and information about the seminar program and myself can be found at www.DCalFine.com.

The application deadline has technically passed, but it has been extended for the next few weeks in the hopes of getting a few more participants.

In April 2016, we plan to participate in the Choral Convergence Festival in NYC, held at Carnegie Hall. This is an opportunity you won't want to miss! In the final performance, our choir will get to sing a world premiere of a piece by René Clausen, under the direction of the composer himself!

At the festival, students in the seminar track will conduct our choir in adjudicated performances, and then we will all enjoy a 1-hour clinic/conductor's master class with one of three world-class conductors: (Jeffrey Redding, Jerry Blackstone, Gene Peterson). We will also participate in an exchange concert experience with other choirs from around the country, as well as a vocal master class with Andrew Lunsford (aka, “The Accidental Tenor”).

Participation in this special trip is open to both Seminar and Choir Track participants and will cost about $400 per person.
