Monologue Madness is the theatre world's unequaled response to the craze that basketball fans bring about, each spring. Our rage, however, uncoils in a more dramatic fashion.
On Selection Sunday, over 200 actors audition at our open call. Only 32 make the cut into a single-elimination tournament bracket.
Two weeks later, on Championship Sunday, each actor arrives prepared with three of their best one-minute monologues, to perform before a live audience and a panel of judges.
The rounds are Comedy, Drama, and Classical. Taking the stage in pairings and scored individually, one actor advances to the next round, while the other is eliminated.
For those actors breaking into our Final Four, the evening becomes a bit more interesting. This is the Cold Read Round. Actors are handed an unseen monologue and given five minutes to prepare, before performing on stage.
Requirements of our Final Round are never revealed until the competition evening.
Each actor receives an array of career-enhancing gifts and our competition winner walks away with $1000!

Monologue Madness 2015, celebrating it's 5th anniversary, returns to the beautiful & historicMiracle Theatre, Sunday, March 29th. Actor registration begins on Monday, Feb 16, 2015 and audience tickets go on sale, Monday, Mar 2, 2015.

I would like to add a very personal THANK YOU to each and every actor, director, and volunteer who has made this event a success over the past five years! We have been able to showcase the best of what the DMV theatre & film community has to offer as well as draw in actors and casting directors from up and down the east coast.
This year's event is shaping up to be one of the biggest ever.
In addition to the $1000 that one actor will take home, we have a stellar panel of judges which include, as of today, Anne Chapman (Anne Chapman Casting), Erica Arvold (Arvold Casting), John Pallotta (John Pallotta Studio of Acting), Jane Margulies Kalbfeld (1st Stage Theatre), Ray Ficca (President, National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts), and Theodore Snead (Monologue Madness 2012 Runner-Up).
Actor registration remains open until all remaining slots have filled. Monologue Madness 2015, the comedy, the drama returns for year number five!
