New Jersey, 1985: rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is everyone's favorite wedding singer until his own fiancĂ©e leaves him at the altar and his life falls apart. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress engaged to a Wall Street player, who rescues Robbie from his despair. Amidst the decade of greed and era of big hair, love prevails for these two romantics as they save each other and find true happiness together. The Wedding Singer was nominated for five Tony Awards in 2006 including Best Musical. The multi-WATCH Award winning team of Director/Choreographer John Monnett and Music Director John-Michael d’Haviland reunite for their eighth TAP collaboration (Kiss Me, Kate, Guys & Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Sweet Smell of Success, 42nd Street and 9 to 5: the Musical). They are joined by Producer Barbara Esquibel and Stage Manager Terri Carnahan.

Based on the popular 1998 romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, this new stage version pays loving homage to the pop songs and videos of the 1980s. Peppered with cultural references and iconic fashion that will have you simultaneously thinking "what were we/they thinking?" and "why can’t we go back?", the score features all new songs that will transport you back to the early days of MTV (when they actually played videos) – including vintage Madonna, Michael Jackson, Culture Club, New Edition, Dire Straits, a-ha, Flock of Seagulls, Van Halen, and Whitesnake. Cameo "appearances" by Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper, Tina Turner, Mr. T, Imelda Marcos, and the Reagans top off the show.
With a book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy (based on Herlihy’s screenplay), music by Matthew Sklar and Lyrics by Chad Beguelin, the Arlington Players is totally psyched to bring this awesome musical comedy to Arlington audiences!
