Restrictions: Applicants must not be under professional management. All voice types and nationalities may apply.

Age Limit: 32
Applicants may not turn 33 before March 17, 2013.

Deadline: Received By Mon Dec 31, 2012

Materials Required: All materials must be submitted online at www.ArtsApp.com, including application form, application fee of $110 and MP3 selections as specified in the rules of the competition. Materials will be able to be submitted between November 1st, 2012 and December 31st 2012. A copy of the applicants birth certificate must be attached to the application as proof of age. Applicants must not be under professional management or they will be disqualified.

Audition Location and Date:
Washington, DC USA: Sun 17th Mar 2013 - Mon 18th Mar 2013

Semifinals: Sunday March 17th, 2013. 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The George Washington University Benjamin T. Rome Building, 801 22nd Street NW, Washington DC

Finals: Monday March 18th, 2013. 7:30 p.m. Terrace Theater Kennedy Center, Washington DC

Audition Requirements:
Applicants must not be under professional management. Applicants must be neither younger than 18 nor older than 32 at the time of the competition. Proof of age will be required. First-prize winners of this competition in past years may not apply.

Repertoire Categories:

1. An aria by J.S. Bach, Handel, Haydn or Mozart
2. An aria from 19th or 20th century opera
3. French art songs from the 19th-21st century
4. German arts songs from the 19th-21st century
5. Art songs in English, including two by American composers, one of whom is living. Contemporary arrangements of earlier music do not meet this requirement.
6. Selections of applicant's choice that best represent his or her vocal talents (May include art songs in other languages not specified above)

The Italian, German, French, and English languages must be represented in the repertoire.

There is no fee for the provided pianist.

Compensation:
First Prize: $10,000
Second Prize: $5,000
Third Prize: $3,000
Finalist Awards (3): $1,000
Audience Prize: $1,000

Performance opportunities in Washington DC. Housing is provided for all selected semifinalists invited to come to Washington DC. Transportation will not be offered.
