Casting 8 men, 3 women (breakdown below). British accents preferred. Auditions will be cold readings from the script, with possibly some improv and singing. You will be asked to note your conflicts for the rehearsal process and run of the show.
We will be auditioning actors in hour long blocks. To make the best use of everyone’s time, we ask that you sign up for an audition slot via the link below. One Man, Two Guvnors will start rehearsals in April, and will run for 5 weekends from June 30 – July 29, 2017. (Please note that this is a change from the original dates). Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm with 2:00 pm matinees on Sunday, July 16 and 23. Show Synopsis:
Brighton, England. 1963. Change is in the air, and Francis Henshall is looking to make his mark. Fired from a skiffle band and in search of work, he finds himself employed by small-time gangster Roscoe Crabbe, in town to collect a fee from his fiancée’s gangster father. But the real Roscoe is really dead, and this Roscoe is really his sister, Rachel. She’s not only posing as her own dead brother, but she’s also in love with his killer, Stanley Stubbers, who becomes our hero's other 'guvnor.' Fighting a mounting sense of confusion, Francis goes out of his way to serve both bosses. But with the distractions of a pneumatic book keeper, a self-important actor, and select members of the criminal fraternity (not to mention his own mammoth appetite) to contend with, how long can he keep them apart?
Character Breakdown:
Charlie “The Duck” Clench (50s): a retired gangster.
Pauline Clench (20s-30s): Charlie’s daughter, very dim-witted.
Alan Dangle (20s-30s): Pauline’s fiancé, an aspiring actor, overly dramatic.
Harry Dangle (50s-60s): Alan’s father and Charlie solicitor, dapper and sleazy.
Stanley Stubbers (30s): Upper-class criminal and Rachel’s lover, athletic and cocky.
Rachel Crabbe (30s): Roscoe’s identical twin sister, pretending to be her brother, confident.
Francis Henshall (30s): Assistant to Rachel, but also employed by Stanley, always hungry and lustful.
Lloyd Boateng (40s-50): Charlie’s friend, ex-con turned pub owner.
Dolly (20s-30s): Charlie’s secretary and Francis’ love interest, voluptuous, flirtatious, smart.
Gareth (30s-40s): Head waiter at The Cricketeers’ Arms, efficient.
Alfie (ancient): Waiter, hard of hearing, nearly blind, very physical role – may be played by younger actor.
Note: Actors do not need to be the actual age of character.
