CONTRACT TYA $511.00/week


SEEKING
Actors and musical theater performers for the full TYA season.
Actors will be signed on as Actor/ASMs.
Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.


PREPARATION
All actors must prepare a comedic, contemporary monologue, no longer than 90 seconds. For those actors wishing to be considered for a musical, you must also prepare 16 bars of a standard musical theater song.
Piano accompaniment will be provided.
Please bring headshot and resume.

A world premiere Kennedy Center commission, this musical adaptation of Patrick McDonnell’s heartwarming book tells the story of a young primatologist and her special childhood toy chimpanzee named Jubilee.

Seeking actors for the following roles (Note: This play is still in development and the roles/descriptions below may change upon completion)

Woman 1:
18+ to play the Lead Female Role.
Woman 2:
18+ to play the role of the narrator.

Man 1 and Man 2:
Two versatile male actors

Women 3 and Woman 4:
Two versatile female actors: 18+ to play a variety of ensemble parts.

All actors in this production should be strong singers; the ability to read music is a plus.

Darius and Twig

Based on the novel "Darius & Twig" by Walter Dean Myers

On Harlem's 145th Street, best friends Darius and Twig dream of a world beyond the confines of their daily lives.

Darius is a writer, whose latest story might be published in a magazine--if only he can keep his alter ego, a fierce falcon, in check.

Twig is a runner, whose speed and endurance might bring him a scholarship--if only he can impress college scouts.

But with Darius's mother barely scraping by, pressure from Twig's uncle to give up racing, and bullies Midnight and Tall Boy constantly on their case, these true-blue allies may not truly be free to use their gifts.

Street-smart and suspenseful, playful and profound, Darius & Twig is the story of two young men who must overcome obstacles by finding the best within themselves.

Seeking the following roles:

Darius:
18+ male actor with strong spoken word skills to play a 16 year old who is intelligent, sensitive, burdened

Twig:
18+ male actor to play a 16 year old who is a dedicated runner, optimistic
Man 1 and Woman 1:
One versatile male 18+ actor and one versatile female 18+ actor to play a variety of ensemble roles.
