2017 Sue Goetz Ross Student Competition for Voice

FMMC holds a number of competitions for students in the Washington, DC, area:

Three annual instrumental competitions for students currently enrolled in grades 9 through 12 who live within 50 miles of Washington, DC.
An annual voice competition for high school and college students ages 17 to 22.
A composition competition for high school students in grades 9 through 12 residing in DC, Maryland, or Virginia.

Winners receive cash awards and one year’s free membership in the Club and appear in the FMMC student recital series. Winners of Honorable Mentions also receive a year’s free membership.

2017 Sue Goetz Ross Student Competition for Voice

The 2017 Sue Goetz Ross Memorial Competition for voice students ages 17 to 22 will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 7611 Clarendon Road, Bethesda, MD.

Deadline for applications is Saturday, March 4, 2017. No express mail will be accepted. For more information, please visit the FMMC website or contact: Mira Yang, hsvoice@fmmc.org.

Fees

A $35 non-refundable application fee is required. You may pay by check payable to “Friday Morning Music Club” and submit with your form. To pay the application fee online, please click on the “Pay Now” button.

Awards

First Prize: $1000
Second Prize: $700
Third Prize: $500

Three selections of contrasting style and period, memorized:

Early Italian Art Song
Aria – Opera or Oratorio in original language
Contemporary English or American Art Song
