Peter’s Alley Theatre Productions' "Lost in Yonkers"

Peter’s Alley Theatre Productions (www.petersalley.com) is currently accepting actor submissions for its upcoming production of the Pulitzer Prize winning comedy Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon.

Directed by Artistic Director, Aly B. Ettman.

Show Runs: April 22nd thru May 21st, 2017

(Fri-Sun) at Theatre on the Run, Arlington.
Rehearsals begin end of February.

*All characters are members of a Jewish family of Eastern European Descent. Play is set in 1942, NY.*

Casting:

Bella (30’s) - “As warm and sweet as she is emotionally arrested”; a child with the body and desires of a woman. Caretaker to Grandma.

Grandma Kurnitz (70ish—may be played by a younger actor)—“SHE would demand attention in a crowd”—a force to be reckoned with; stern, a terror with a limp and a cane. German accent.

Gert- (30’s-40’s flexible) –Older sister to Bella; Afflicted with a speech impediment in which she speaks on the inhalation of air as a result of nerves.

Arty (13-14)—funny, wisecracking, outspoken, nervy. Not intimidated by Grandma

Jay (15-16)—Smart, more serious, obedient than his brother but strong and sarcastic. *Actors over 18 who appear younger are encouraged to submit.*

Eddie (Late 30’s-40’s flexible)—Arty and Jay’s father; A newly single father, intimidated by Grandma.

Louie (30’s-40’s flexible) ---Gangster brother/ uncle to the boys; Crude, obnoxious, a bit scary but also a bit of a loser.
