Cadence Theatre Company in partnership with Virginia Rep is seeking two actresses and one actor for its upcoming production of David Lindsay-Abaire’s play, Rabbit Hole, directed by Anna Johnson:
Nat – mid-sixties – Becca and Izzy’s Mother: The outspoken matriarch of the family and deeply devoted to her daughters. Although she’s not highly educated, she stands by her own unique world view and calls things like she sees them. She has a salty, direct sense of humor, insults with love and isn’t afraid to point out the elephant in the room. She lost her adult son to a drug overdose some years ago.
Izzy – mid-thirties – Becca’s sister: A free-wheeling party girl who finds herself at a crossroads. Sensitive to Becca’s emotional needs and fiercely protective of her. Resentful of her family’s insinuations that she may not be ready for motherhood.
Jason – seventeen – An earnest kid with integrity and innocence who finds himself at the center of a fatal accident that weighs heavily on him.
*The roles of Becca and Howie have been precast.
Those auditioning should prepare a contemporary monologue, no longer than one minute in length, and be prepared to read from the script. Rehearsals begin March 27th for an April 27th opening. The show runs through May 20th at Theatre Gym.
