Auditions for SUBURB The Musical - Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5 from 1 – 4 pm

Suburb takes an insightful, witty, and nuanced view of the world of the lawnmower, the barbecue, and the mall, exploring the suburb’s rites and rituals interwoven with frequent musical reveries.
A preview of the show will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 2:00 – 3:00pm at StageCoach Theatre in Ashburn. Come learn about the show, hear samples of the songs and dialog, and meet the production team.
Auditions will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5 from 1:00 – 4:00pm at StageCoach Theatre, 20937 Ashburn Road, Suites 115 and 120, Ashburn, VA 20147.
Please prepare 16-32 bars of 2 Broadway songs, preferably from a satirical show. One should be upbeat, the other a ballad. An accompanist will be provided; no a capella. Character Descriptions
Stuart-(Mid 20s- early 30s) Baritone/Tenor- Alison’s husband, who finds himself suddenly seized by an overwhelming desire to go suburban with the upcoming birth of his first child. Enthusiastic, real, funny, vulnerable everyman.
Alison (Mid 20s- early 30s) Alto – Stuart’s wife, a pregnant young professional determined to avoid moving back to the suburbs. Bold, gritty, funny, very much a city girl, but wanting to do the best possible for her family, without losing herself
Rhoda (40-60) Alto- a chain-smoking Über-realtor, a perpetual divorcée hell-bent on selling Alison and Stuart their dream house; she is loud, brash, but kind and maybe a bit lonely. Finds a companion in Tom
Tom (50-65) Tenor- a widower and avid do-it-yourselfer who in the face of retirement has reluctantly put his home of 40 years up for sale. Misses his wife terribly, but knows he needs to move on. Finds a companion in Rhoda
Man 1 (Mid 20s- ?) Baritone/Bass – Must be able to play multiple roles with sarcasm, reality, and humor
Man 2 (Mid 20s – ?) Tenor- Must be able to play multiple roles with sarcasm, reality, and humor
Woman 1 (Mid 20s- ?) Alto- Must be able to play multiple roles with sarcasm, reality, and humor
Woman 2 (Mid 20s-?) Mezzo/Soprano- Must be able to play multiple roles with sarcasm, reality, and humor
Performances will be held on July 12-14, 20-21, and 27-28. Rehearsals will be held Monday – Thursday from 7:30 – 9:30pm (closer to 10pm in the tech weeks prior to the show) plus Sundays (time to be determined).
