About the show:

Two young slaves escape from a South Carolina plantation, and with the help of many good people, make their way north to join their freed father in Pennsylvania.

Their many adventures, dangers, narrow escapes and comic exploits result in a heart-rending experience accompanied by simple spirituals.

The play brings new levels of perception of the people who lived in those anguished times…and indeed to those who live in ours.
