Oratorio Society of Richmond Resident Apprenticeship Program (barter opportunity)


Location: Richmond, Va

Applicants should be current or recent students of a Virginia university or college. Though the amount of rehearsals is limited, apprentices will need to be able to commute to and from Richmond during the weeks of December 15, 2018 and May 19, 2019.
Age Limit 25

There will be no live auditions, video and audio auditions only.

Program Dates
December 15, 2018 - May 20, 2019

2018-2019 Hercules by G.F. Handel

Apprentice Duties Include the following:
Apprentices in voice will sing in a chamber choir and cover the following roles:
Hercules - Bass
Dejanira - Mezzo-soprano
Iole - Soprano
Hyllus - Tenor
Lichas - Contralto or mezzo-soprano
Apprentices will also perform as soloists in outreach events during the week of the performance, as well as a fundraising gala in November.
Apprentices will be asked to perform in the chorus/orchestra of Handel's Messiah in a collaboration with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Opportunities to cover and coach the solos will be made available to apprentices.
Apprentices will sing in a masterclass with a working professional from a regional opera company.

Payment is not provided. Students will be offered masterclasses, coachings, and voice instruction free of charge.
