Auditions for A Piece of My Heart- Tuesday, August 13th and 14th, 7 to 9:30 PM

Audition Information:

Multi–ethnic cast needed for Bowie Community Theatre’s production of Shirley Lauro’s A Piece of My Heart, directed by Cody Jones.
The production will open on Friday, November 2, 2018 and run for 10 performances over three weekends through Sunday, November 18, 2018, with two performances on Saturday, November 10th.
A compelling and provocative drama that tells the story of six very different women who lived, loved and fought in the Vietnam war during the TET invasion, and how life reunites them 20 years later. Sides from the script will be provided, so be prepared to do a cold reading.
You may be asked to dance and do some movement if your role calls for it.

Character breakdown:

Martha (22-42) Navy Nurse, army brat, knows the military very well
MaryJo (17-37) Texas gal with accent, singer, guitar player, bubbly and entertaining
Sissy (20-40) Army Nurse, sweet, kind, harmonious
Whitney (21-41) Red-Cross Nurse, Caucasian, Aristocrat, Vassar graduate, very slim and poised
Steele (35-55) African American, tough, very smart, funny, outgoing and gregarious
LeeAnn (20-40) Asian descent, urban, politically left, educated, urbanized
All American Guy (20s-50s) One male to play several small male characters residing anywhere in the universe.

Auditions will be held at the Bowie Playhouse on Monday and Tuesday, August 13th and 14th, 2018, with a possible call-back on August 15th, from 7 to 9:30 PM.
Rehearsals will be held at a local church in Bowie, MD on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a third day added as rehearsals progress.
