The DC Metro chapter of Opera On Tap (OOT) is on the hunt for fabulous opera singers (21 and up)!
Auditions will be held over two weekends in January. The first date is Saturday, January 14th from 11am-3pm at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, located at 6304 Lee Chapel Rd Burke, VA 22015, off of Old Keene Mill Road, near Fairfax and Springfield. The second date is Saturday, January 28th from 11am-3pm at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 5101 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20011 in the Brightwood area.
If you would like to be considered for an audition, please submit a resume and headshot to dcmetro@operaontap.com by 11:59pm on Friday, December 30, 2016. Please indicate your audition location preference in your email, letting us know if you can be available for either of the auditions dates, should your first preference be unavailable. If accepted for an audition, you will be notified of your audition time by 11:59pm on Monday, January 2, 2017.
Singers will be asked to prepare 3 contrasting arias and are welcome to bring additional repertoire (musical theater, operetta, and art songs). In addition, please be prepared to give a brief and compelling introduction to your piece in character (or in first person). Your audience at an Opera on Tap show will be opera lovers and opera newbies alike, but they will all be out for good time with drink in hand so get their attention!
There will be a $10 audition fee taken at the audition – cash or check. An excellent pianist will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own (the audition fee still applies).
Stipend: While there is no compensation offered at this time, we hope to offer small stipends to performers in the future.
