The Soldiers' Chorus of The U.S. Army Field Band announces the following vacancy: ALTO VOCALIST

THE SOLDIERS' CHORUS
is the mixed choral ensemble of The United States Army Field Band. The Soldiers' Chorus travels with The Army Field Band's Concert Band performing nationally and internationally as directed by the Department of the Army. Formal public concerts, school assemblies, clinics, music festivals, guest performances with major orchestras, and radio and television appearances are all part of the annual schedule of the Soldiers' Chorus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional performance level
Proficiency in various musical styles, pop/commercial, jazz, and classical
Slight reading skills desired
Baccalaureate degree or higher preferred
Ability to meet Army height/weight standards prior to live audition and maintain a physically fit appearance
Must be 17-34 years of age
U.S. citizen or other qualified resident

SALARY:
$59,136–$63,312 (Army rank of Staff Sergeant)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform in the Soldiers' Chorus of The United States Army Field Band
Tour 100-120 days per year in the U.S. and abroad
Work with Educational Outreach Program in schools across the nation
There are opportunities to perform in small chamber music ensembles
Position requires a minimum 4-year enlistment-the candidate will be informed of acceptance prior to enlistment
Other duties as required in service to the organization

AUDITION PROCESS:
Submit a recent resume and high-quality recording on CD (no digital submissions) by the date above. The recording should include the following:

One or two selections demonstrating commercial style, to be selected from the Billboard Hot 100, R&B/Hip-Hop, Country, Latin, Rock or Pop (minimum of twenty weeks' time on the charts);
One jazz selection, chosen from The Real Book, Volumes 1-3, or The Standards Real Book;
An a cappella performance of the National Anthem in a key selected by the candidate;
One selection either from musical theatre OR an art song.

Candidates' resumes should indicate any specific skills they would like to highlight: choral conducting, dance experience, IT expertise, etc.

Applicants selected from screening of recordings will be invited for a personal interview and audition. Travel expenses will be paid by the United States Army. Military personnel must be eligible for permanent change of station and must submit an Intent to Release memorandum from their unit Commander.

Due to recent enlistment policy restrictions, prior service personnel are advised to consult with their local Army recruiter concerning eligibility.
