Summer 2016 Internships at Wolf Trap



Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is a large performing arts organization that presents a wide spectrum of the performing arts: music, dance, theatre, opera and related education programs. Wolf Trap presents over 200 performances year-round, attracting more than 500,000 audience members annually. Wolf Trap’s internship program provides meaningful hands-on training and experience in arts administration, education and technical theatre.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Selected as one of the "Best Places to Intern: 2009" by Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Wolf Trap internships are 12 weeks long and full-time (35 hours per week) in the summer. All positions are paid.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Reliable mode of transportation preferred. Accessible via metro and metro bus.

Housing is not provided, but Wolf Trap will provide a housing guide.

Undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of one year of study, graduate students, recent graduates, and career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program. All majors are welcome.

Interns should possess enthusiasm, strong writing and organizational skills and proficient computer skills.

All interns must meet INS I-9 eligibility regulations.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

To apply, you must email the following materials to internships@wolftrap.org no later than February 1, 2016 (Technical Theatre, Scene, Props, and Costuming applications are due March 1):

• A completed application form (can be found online)

• A resume listing relevant courses, previous experience, and special skills (no transcripts please)

• A cover letter with a brief personal statement, an outline of career goals

• Two contrasting writing samples (no more than three pages in length each) are required. These may be excerpts from papers you have previously written for classes, or something you have written for publication or for extra-curricular activities. You do not need to write something specifically for the application, please simply submit a sample of something you have written in the past.

o Writing samples are not required for the following positions: Technical Theatre, Scenic Arts, Prop Painting, Costuming, Stage Management, Accounting, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Photography, Multimedia, and Production & Sound.

• Two references that can speak on your behalf. Email and phone number, please.

• Graphic Design, Photography, and Multimedia/Social Media applicants only: In addition, please include three desktop publishing/design samples.
