Words&Music Seeks Tenor

Words&Music (www.words-music.org), a professional Northern Virginia based vocal quartet, will be holding auditions by invitation only in early November for a tenor for the 2015-16 season (performances scheduled for December 20, February 13, April 8-10 and mid-May). The highlight of the season will be the world premier of a newly commissioned work for Words&Music by Native American composer Jerod Tate.

We are looking for an outstanding musician who can prepare challenging music independently prior to weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals, who is experienced both as a soloist and small ensemble singer, and is comfortable in a wide variety of genres and styles (From Byrd to Brahms to Brubeck, from stylistically appropriate straight tone to bel canto). Words&Music is a cooperative ensemble, and singers are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the organization. For more information or to submit materials, please email: info@words-music.org. Please include cover letter, resume with references and, when available, recordings or links to online media/websites.

Audition repertoire:

Solo selection of choice (not to exceed 3 minutes)
Brahms Liebeslieder “Wenn so lind…”
Byrd “Kyrie” from Mass for Four Voices
Schlenker “Benedictus” from Mass for 4 Voices (PDF will be included in invitation email)
Johns “Parting Glass” (PDF will be included in invitation email)
