Harford Choral Society

The Harford Choral Society welcomes new singers. New members will encounter a welcoming atmosphere. The director provides a creative repertoire and as well as encouraging and challenging rehearsal sessions. Rehearsals provide a balance to the workaday world by easing the burden of stressful days, and lightening the hearts of those who participate. Rehearsals are enjoyable, filled with good humor and balanced by laser-like work in our process of making music. Participants depart from rehearsal vocally invigorated and refreshed.
Auditions

The Director will hold auditions for the 2015-16 season on Tuesday evening, September 1 and 8, in connection with the regular 7:00 p.m. rehearsal time. Auditions may also be scheduled at any time by appointment.

If you wish to audition, please email info@harfordchoralsociety.org. All voice parts are welcome.

Chorus members need not be trained vocalists, but are expected to be able to read music, and should be prepared for the following audition elements:

pitch-matching

a short prepared piece, such as an art song or aria, a hymn melody or other musical passage consistent with standard choral repertory

sight-reading of an extract from a choral score

We present two full concerts per season,as well as occasional smaller-scale runout performances. Recent repertory has included Handel's Messiah, Rutter's Gloria, Gabrieli's In ecclesiis, Mozart's Requiem, masses by Haydn, and Orff's Carmina burana as well as numerous smaller-scale pieces ranging from the 16th century to commissioned works.
