DYNAMIC MALE LEAD VOCAL ENTERTAINER, The U.S. Army Downrange

The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” announces a vacancy for a dynamic Male Vocalist/Entertainer with a low/medium vocal range to perform with The U.S. Army Band Downrange, an element of the Army’s premier musical organization, located 5 minutes from downtown Washington, D.C.

Downrange is a talented 6-piece rhythm section (2 guitars, 2 keyboards, bass and percussionist), often with horns, and a group of 5 vocalists that perform a variety of original arrangements of popular music including Rock, Pop, Funk, R&B, alternative, hip-hop and the best of American Country Music. Members of this exciting group enjoy showcasing their talents in and around the National Capital region performing in places like the White House, the Kennedy Center, the Howard Theatre as well as traveling the country and internationally.

The position requires an individual with exceptional musicianship and stylistic flexibility to perform an extensive and diverse repertoire. Candidates would be expected to perform as a featured soloist and/or ensemble member with the Concert Band, Army Strings (Orchestral), Army Chorus (piano and acoustic) and the Army Blues (brass and electric) as well as participate in a Joint Services Choir for Department of State ceremonies and functions.

Applicants must demonstrate strong, versatile abilities in the following areas:

Solo and ensemble performance
Singing in tight harmonies
Sight reading
Stylistic flexibility between a variety of musical genres in rock, pop, funk, country, R&B

Military benefits include full medical and dental care; 30-days paid vacation each year; a permanent duty assignment to Fort Myer; educational benefits such the Montgomery G.I. Bill.

All applicants must have U.S. citizenship due to a security clearance requirement. Anyone offered a position would be expected to pass the Army’s physical examination and meet other standards required to enlist in the Armed Forces. Individuals must enlist and begin Basic Combat Training prior to their 35th birthday.
AUDITION INFORMATION

Auditions will be held at Brucker Hall, home of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” at 400 McNair Road, Fort Myer, Virginia 22211-1306. All invited candidates must pay for their own travel and lodging.

Recent enlistment policy has heavily restricted prior service personnel from re-entering the Army. Prior service personnel are advised to consult with their local Army recruiter about these policies before making travel arrangements.
