Classes with Richard Crittenden

“A true artist is continually looking for ways to improve, no matter how much experience he or she has had.” Richard Crittenden

The 2014 Fall classes of the renowned Richard Crittenden will begin soon here in the Washington DC area. He has been conducting classes for singers in the area for more than 25 years and his classes have been described by Classical Singer as some of the best in the country. We are fortunate to have him in the area. The Friday evening Performance Practices classes enables singers to learn valuable performing techniques such as obtaining a dramatic perspective, learning to physicalize your emotions, building and maintaining a strong character, making yourself look good on stage, finding your acting truth, learning music quickly and accurately, integrating character and movement with music and much more! Past participants have found the class useful for being able to physically present material for auditions, college entrance requirement materials, performances as well as discovering a comfortable and easy rapport on the stage. The weekly performance in front of peers strengthens the performance persona and adds immeasurably to the vocal studio work of the participant. The students bring in material of their own choosing: arias for audition, performance material, recital material, oratorio, music theater - anything- and Mr Crittenden works with each student each week.

The classes are on Friday evenings, and are concentrated on presentation of performing material. The 10 classes are held at 6313 Valley Road in Bethesda at 7:00. The dates are September 19 – 26, October 17 -- 24 – 31, November 7 -- 14 – 21, December 5 – 12. The cost for the semester is $460. The class is by necessity, small, as he works individually with all the students in every class in a master-class format. For information, contact Elizabeth Vrenios at evrenios@netzero.com.

Any adjustments to the above dates and times will be communicated upon your inquiry.
