AUDITIONS ARE MONDAY MAY 19 FROM 10am to 6pm
The Media Theatre, Jesse Cline, Artistic Director, located at 104 East State St in Media is holding an AEA Performers Call (non-union performers will be seen as time permits) for its upcoming 2014,2015 Season. Auditions will be held on Monday, May 19th from 10-6 with an hour break for lunch from 1-2. All types, ages ethnicities are encouraged to attend. Mal Beineke : Male, 40-50, Caucasian Stuffy father of Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming wife, Alice, at one time was a follower of the Grateful Dead; Alice Beineke : Female, 35-45, Caucasian Mother of Lucas, devoted to her family so she puts aside her own desires, in shape, quirky, often speaks in rhyme; Lucas Beineke : Male, 18-25, All Ethnicities Caucasian male, attractive, in shape young man. LES MISERABLES-Jean Valjean : Male, 35-49, All Ethnicities sings to B (high lyric baritone or tenor with strong low notes), a poor peasant who rises to affluence, has great natural nobility; Javert : Male, 35-49, All Ethnicities baritone, sings to G, a policeman who relentlessly hunts Valjean, ideally a large man, the ultimate "law and order" figure, obsessed ;Thenardier : Male, 35-49, All Ethnicities strong comic character role, a crooked innkeeper, later a petty, amoral thief, greedy, irreverent, selfish, boorish, vulgar, baritone; Marius : Male, 20-29, All Ethnicities high baritone (sings to A) with a strong bottom (to A), a member of the revolutionary student movement, attractive and romantic; Enjorlas : Male, 20-35, All Ethnicities high baritone (to G sharp/A), very strong singer, a charismatic political figure, the leader of the revolutionary movement; Fantine : Female, 25-40, All Ethnicities belt up to C, sings to E flat, a poor factory girl, struggling to support her fatherless daughter, later is a pauper, a prostitute; Cosette, lyric soprano,the younger the better, Fantine’s daughter (first seen as and played by a child), delicate, elegant, vulnerable, and beautiful ;Eponine : Female, 18-25, All Ethnicities an enormous and beautiful belt voice (to C in belt; sings to E flat), the daughter of the Thenardiers, but in no way behaves like them; Madame Thenardier : Female, 30-45, All Ethnicities tough, sharp, coarse, boorish, vulgar, strong character comedienne role, belter; Gavroche : Male, 7-11, All Ethnicities a spunky street urchin, lots of personality, sings very well; Young Cosette and Young Eponine : Female, 7-11, All Ethnicities ,sweet, innocent waifs with pretty soprano voices. THE MIRACLE WORKER-· Annie Sullivan: Female, 22-28, Caucasian Helen’s teacher, a strong and vibrant woman who is determined to connect Helen to the world, there is a crude vitality to her; Helen Keller: Female, 9-11, Caucasian a deaf blind mute, trapped in her own world, unable to speak, hear, or see, she is almost not human as she has been blind and deaf ;Captain Arthur Keller: Male, 40-50, Caucasian Helen’s father; Kate Keller: Female, 28-38, Caucasian ,Helen’s mother who is tormented by Helen’s perceivably insurmountable disability, she seeks to please Helen in order to avoid the tantrums;James Keller: Male, 18-25, Caucasian Helen’s half-brother, son of the captain, described as indolent, sees Helen as mentally defective and believes it best she be put in an asylum; Aunt Ev: Female, 40-60, All Ethnicities Helen’s aunt, a talkative, opinionated woman who serves as the catalyst for the Kellers’ contact with the Perkins School for the Blind; Anagnos: Male, 40-55, All Ethnicities Annie’s counselor at the Perkins Institution for the Blind, a dear and kind man who is very fond of Annie, serves as a mentor and friend; Viney, Female, 30-50, African Descent, African American servant, cheerful and very loving towards the Keller children.
