Tidewater Opera Initiative is holding auditions on February 9th for its second season, due to take place between July and August of 2014. Please fill out the application form completely and submit it, along with the requested supplemental materials no later than February 1st to auditions@tidewateroperainitiative.org

Please prepare 3‑5 selections from the standard repertoire. One selection MUST be in English. Operas
being considered for the 2014 season include Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi, The Medium, and The Old
Maid and the Thief. Final repertoire selections will be made once auditions are completed.
In addition to the application, please submit the following additional materials:
A one page résumé
A high resolution electronic file of your headshot
Optional: two recordings, demonstrating your current vocal development
Auditions will take place on February 9th in Norfolk, Virginia.
There is no fee to apply, however if selected for a live audition, you MUST bring $10 for the accompanist fee. Cash, check, and credit card will be accepted. Checks may be made payable to Tidewater Opera Initiative.
If you are unable to attend the live audition, you may submit a high quality video recording or YouTube link of 3‑5 selections, one of which must be in English, to auditions@TidewaterOperaInitiative.org Please note: preference will be given to those who audition in person.
TOI is a no fee, no pay young artist program, designed to cultivate and celebrate exceptional local talent in the greater Tidewater region. The typical TOI singer is an emerging professional or exceptional college student, preparing to make their entrance into an operatic career. Preference will be given to artists who reside in Tidewater and the state of Virginia, but all artists are welcome to apply. Please note that TOI cannot provide transportation for out of town artists.
