Audition Details: The United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" announces a vacancy for Low Female (Mezzo Soprano) Lead Vocalist to perform with The U.S. Army Voices, an element of the Army's premier musical organization, located 5 minutes from downtown Washington, DC.
The vacancy is for a low Female Vocalist in an 8-voice SATB vocal ensemble comprised of 2 vocalists per part. This ensemble frequently performs at the White House, the Kennedy Center, the Music Center at Strathmore, and venues throughout the Washington, DC, area and the United States. The position requires an individual with an alto vocal color possessing exceptional musicianship and stylistic flexibility to perform the group's own brand of Orchestra Pops, Jazz, Broadway, and Patriotic arrangements.
Performances as a featured soloist with the Concert Band, Army Strings, Army Chorus and the Army Blues are also a regular part of this position, as well as participation in the Joint Services Choir for state ceremonies and funerals.

Applicants must demonstrate strong, versatile abilities in the following areas:
Solo and ensemble performance, both accompanied and a cappella
Singing in tight harmonies
Sight reading
Stylistic flexibility between a variety of musical styles, to include light classical and commercial pops.
All applicants must have U.S. citizenship due to a security clearance requirement. Anyone offered a position would be expected to pass the Army's physical examination and meet other standards required to enlist in the Armed Forces. Individuals must enlist and begin Basic Combat Training prior to their 35th birthday.
