Auditions for MCP's "La Cage aux Folles," the musical comedy classic, will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m. and Monday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the McLean Community Center. La Cage is considered Jerry Herman’s best musical. The book is by Harvey Fierstein and is based on the novel by Jean Poiret. Hans Bachmann is directing and John Edward Niles is music directing. Duane Monahan is choreographer. Character descriptions with vocal ranges and a map to the Center are available on MCP’s website. We suggest that you download an audition form and complete it before arriving at the audition, but forms will be available there.

AUDITION PROCESS
Prepare to sing 32 bars of one song (preferably a show tune, and it can be from La Cage).
You will be asked to do a short reading provided by the director.
Be prepared to dance (wear appropriate clothing and shoes)--a jazz dance combination will be taught.
Bring your calendar so that you can list any conflicts. Rehearsals will likely be scheduled on three or four weekday evenings and some weekends.
Callbacks (on Oct. 10) are by invitation only.
