Cantigas, Washington's premier Latino chorus is holding auditions for its 2013-2014 season, which begins in September during the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Going on its 23rd year, Cantigas is prized for presenting rare and exciting Latin American and Spanish works that are unpublished in the U.S., and for its cross-cultural integration and collaborations. Cantigas singers enjoy a multicultural experience as the only chamber chorus in the region that performs music from all styles and historical periods including Latin American Baroque, Spanish Renaissance, and contemporary, popular, and folk music from those regions of the world. Cantigas singers are from many regions of the Latin America and the U.S., comprised of Latino and mainstream Americans who have an interest in singing in Spanish.
The season line-up includes a workshop and three concerts in addition to special invitations, such as embassies and public and private events:

Winter Celebration: Holiday Songs and Parrandas - Dec 7, 2013
Uniting Hearts and Minds: Music from Arabic, Jewish and Latin American traditions
An Ode to Poetry: A choral tribute to Pablo Neruda and other poets
Collaboration with the Cathedral Choral Society of Washington D.C.
Performance at the Kennedy Center Millenium Stage
