Program Dates: November 01, 2013 - November 17, 2013

Program Information:
LoftOpera is recasting opera in the underground music scene in Brooklyn. We use loft venues to create immersion-theater, abridged productions of great operas. The budget is low, the excitement is high, the beer is local brew, and the music is really, really good.

After the success of our first production, evidenced by three nights packed with a lively and enthusiastic audience and a fiscal profit, we're charging ahead into our second production. Read more about our first performance in the Wall Street Journal (online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324809804578511130707541620.html) and on WQXR (www.wqxr.org/#!/blogs/operavore/2013/may/28/spring-awakening-activity-nycs-small-opera-companies/).

Productions result from collaborations with artists and performers, as well as sponsors and partners like a Brooklyn Brewery for drinks and Kayrock Screenprinting (www.kayrockscreenprinting.tumblr.com), a local printing company, for merchandise. Each production is a truly unique collaboration and presents a constantly fresh experience of the art form. Think of LoftOpera as something between a Brooklyn loft party and a start-up opera company.

Compensation: Payment is provided. While the budget is low, we respect our artists and their work by paying them. The management team is takes little to no money out of this project, so practically all of our profits go to the artists. The more we raise, the more we can pay.
