Recipe for delight: 1929, a ritzy Paris hotel, a glittering cast of characters ... a Baron, a beautiful woman and her jealous, but wandering husband, a glamorous chanteuse, a valet and maid who long to live the lives of their employers ... and the best ingredient of all - COLE PORTER! Watch as they sing, dance, hide and deceive each other in their search for true love, because, after all ... YOU NEVER KNOW!

Character Breakdown:

Gaston: 20's – early 30's, Baron Rommer's well-trained Butler: more than anything in the world, he wants to experience the life of the upper crust, not particularly skilled in the art of seduction. High baritone/Tenor (Low B-flat to high F)

Baron Rommer: 30's, a rich, sophisticated playboy who has grown weary of the game: continental and "to the manner born," a rogue with a grand sense of humor. Baritone (Low A to high E)

Maria: 20's, Mme. Baltin's maid, pert and saucy, attractive but not typical in any way: capable of impersonating a woman of society. Soprano (Low D to High G)

Mme. Baltin: 40's – 50's, an elegant lady of high society, unhappily married to Herr Baltin: charming, witty and poised. Age will be comparable to age of actor cast as the Baron. Alto/mezzo, (Low B-flat to D (2nd line))

Herr Baltin: 50's-60's, Mme. Baltin's rich husband, pompous, Germanic, extremely jealous and intimidating: a man of size and presence. Limited singing and dancing role (only in the finale).

Ida: any age, Baron Rommer's current "amour," a Josephine Baker-like performer headlining at the Folies Bergere, famous for her exotic dancing, colorful and charismatic but jealous to a fault, not particularly bright. Jazz belter, (Low B-flat to High F)

Questions regarding the singing may contact Joe Biddle at joe.biddle@abrealty.com. Non-singers need not audition.

Ages are only an approximation – the director may cast an older cast or younger cast depending on who auditions.
