Keegan Theatre Open Call for CABARET


The Keegan Theatre is holding an open call for the upcoming production of CABARET.

Specifically looking for the following:

Principal singing roles:

-Fraulein Schneider, alto, about 60: A landlady who rents rooms in her
large flat. She is full of vitality, interested in everything, and
probably indestructible.

-Herr Schultz, tenor, 50s: One of Frl. Schneider's roomers and the
proprietor of a Fruit Shop. He is very warm and cheerful.

Ensemble:

-Actor/musicians who are moderately proficient on select instruments (to include tenor sax, trombone, drums, piano/accordian).

-Actor/dancers who are comfortable with revealing costumes, sex appeal, and gender ambiguity.

Show information:

-Christina A. Coakley and Michael Innocenti are directing.

-Rehearsals will begin mid November 2012 and run through mid January 2013 (exact dates TBD).

-Rehearsals will be held at Church Street Theater in DC and a location in Arlington (near Ballston Mall).

-Rehearsals will take place some weeknights and Saturday mornings/afternoons, with some Sunday days/evenings (no more than 6 days per week).

-The show will perform at Church Street Theater in Dupont, running January 26, 2013 through February 23, 2013 with a possible one week extension through March 3, 2013.

-Performances are Thursday-Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm at Church Street Theater. There will also be one Tuesday night performance on January 29 at 8pm.

-Actors will receive a stipend following the close of the production.

Audition information:

-This is a NON-EQUITY CALL

-AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD Saturday, September 8 between 9:00am-12:30pm.

-Inquiries should be sent to ccoakley@keegantheatre.com with your availability for the entire audition block. An exact time will be provided upon receipt of your electronic headshot, resume, and preferred audition time.

-Auditions are located at Church Street Theatre in Dupont Circle (directions available at the Keegan website).

-Please prepare one monologue of your choice, totalling no longer than one minute. You will also need to prepare 32 bars of a song with a strong narrative that emphasizes the storytelling element.
