The Metropolitan Opera announces Chorus Auditions for the 2011 – 12 season. Applicants will be considered for positions in the Full Time (Regular) and Extra Chorus.
All auditions will be by invitation only. Singers who wish to be considered for an audition should send via email a current resume, photo and an optional audio file (MP3) no larger then [10MB] of a selected operatic aria to:

Anyone invited to audition will be given an audition date and time drawn from the audition sessions dates listed below. Applicants should include a cover letter with their resume indicating their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th audition session preference. Cover letters should also indicate any union affiliation. Any singer who is offered employment and is not already a member of AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists) will be required to join AGMA.
Any offer of employment is contingent upon documentation that you have the right to work in the United States.
Resumes must be received on or before 12 midnight EST, Saturday, October 16th, 2010. Submissions received after this date, regardless of postmark or email transmission time, will not be considered.
All applicants will be informed as to whether or not they have been granted an audition.
The audition sessions are scheduled for:
1. Monday, November 1st, 2010 10:00am to 1:00pm
2. Monday, November 1st, 2010 1:30pm to 6:30pm
3. Friday, November 5th, 2010 3:30pm to 6:30pm
4. Monday, November 8th, 2010 10:00am to 1:00pm
5. Monday, November 8th, 2010 1:30pm to 6:30pm
The Metropolitan Opera Chorus and Extra Chorus offer unique and rewarding career opportunities for highly qualified performers. Classically trained professional singers who have been invited to audition should be prepared to sing two operatic arias in different languages from memory. Selections should demonstrate the applicant’s ability to sing lyrically. An accompanist will be provided.
Management does not share the audition panel’s comments with the applicant.
