Auditions for Maryland's Bel Cantanti Opera 2011 Season, Gianni Schicchi and Pagliacci

Bel Cantanti Opera is announcing auditions for its 2010-2011 season. Singers are needed for a double bill: “Gianni Schicchi” and “Pagliacci” (performances are on November 13, 14, 20, 21); “Romeo et Juliette” (performances in March); and “L’Italiana in Algeri” (performances in May). All roles are open. Paid.

Auditions will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23, 2010, in Washington DC, at the JPH Hall, Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Catholic University of America.

On May 29 and 30, 2010, auditions will be held in New York City, at the Studios of 353 West 48 St.

To schedule an audition singers need to send an application package via email to auditions@belcantanti.com. Package should include a current resume, headshot, mp3 recording and the application fee of $35.

Two arias (French and Italian) are requested for the audition. Singers auditioning for the lead roles in the opera are required to sing an aria from that role. Accepted singers will be informed about their audition slot via email. Deadline for the applications is May 20, 2010.

Pianists are provided free of charge for all audition dates.
